Estimates
and Fees

Each anaesthetist is an independent practitioner. The staff at East Coast Anaesthetic Practice endeavor to ensure that every patient receiving anaesthetic services understands what to expect regarding their anaesthetic fees. Due to current legislation, individual anaesthetists must set their own fees. For this reason, fees between anaesthetists may vary slightly.
Upon receiving your surgical information, we will prepare an estimate of anaesthetic fees. This estimate will include details of rebates from Medicare, your health insurance provider, and the expected out-of-pocket costs, also known as the “gap.”
The fee for your anesthesia is separate from the fees charged by other doctors involved in your care. It is also separate from the fees charged by the facility where your surgery takes place—such as a hospital, day surgery centre, or endoscopy suite.
Dr Pavel Janda participates in most Private Health Fund ‘Gap Cover’ or ‘Known Gap’ schemes. This means that, where applicable, your private health fund will pay its maximum allowable benefit to the anaesthetist, reducing your out-of-pocket costs.
In some cases—typically involving major surgeries—Dr Janda may not participate in a ‘Gap Cover’ or ‘Known Gap’ scheme. In such instances, full pre-payment of the anaesthetic fee is required prior to your surgery.
Please note that health fund rebates for anaesthetic services vary depending on your level of cover. We strongly recommend confirming your cover with your health fund before your procedure.

Your anaesthetic fee will also vary depending on the complexity a nd duration of the anaesthetic services provided. Variations may include:
If you are covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, WorkCover or Third Party, fees are set by the Government and you will not have any co-payment or gap.
